Using satellite-based detection to reduce the proliferation of devastating wildfires.
California, the Bay Area, and Silicon Valley are the source of many advances to our wealth of science and engineering accomplishments. Over the last fifty years, the "Terra" family of companies has pioneered many of those efforts in the fields of earth observation and digital mapping technology. Much of that has filtered into mainstream applications such as car navigation, military intelligence, and oil and mineral exploration.
We acquired the adjacent image during the peak of the Oakland Hills wildfire in 1991. The area was completely obscured by smoke but the NASA scanner was able to see through the haze that otherwise was impenetrable by visible light. Every bright dot is a house or apartment building on fire.
Early Detection for Effective Response
At Terra-Vista Wildfire Defense, we focus on advanced technologies. This is derived from over fifty years of imaging and mapping products development, serving government and industry. This includes IDIMS (Interactive Digital Image Manipulation System), which was the mainstay of the U.S. surveillance capability for over forty years.
